Helping My Friend

Creating a Successful Service Project Using Our Site

Step 1:

Find a person or family to assist.

  • If you don’t know an individual or family to help, consider contacting a church or a local group like Rotary, the Boys & Girls Club of America, or the YMCA.

Step 2:

Determine who will be helping.

  • Knowing how many people you have helping will help determine the scope of your service project.
  • Consider gathering a team of dependable people who can meet the needs of your project.

Step 3:

Choose a way to help.

  • Talk to the individual or family about what kind of help they could use. Some ideas that work well and provide lasting impact include:
    • packing their pantry with food / necessities
    • paying the gas or electric bill for the season
    • building a wheelchair ramp
    • doing yard work for someone who is unable
    • beautifying a rundown playground

Step 4:
