FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How does the progress bar work?
Because HelpingMyFriend does not collect or distribute money, we cannot ensure exact amounts for the progress bar. We provide a platform for project managers to use our tools to help people, and it is their responsibility to update the progress bar. We recommend updating the progress bar no less than once a day by utilizing our update tool when managing a project. You should be able to easily see donations on your Venmo ledger.

How does HelpingMyFriend make money?
Currently, we don’t. This is a passion project to help people help each other in times of need by providing a platform to make it easier for them to organize small community projects. If we do decide to monetize the site, we plan to use advertising banners and/or affiliate links which would allow users to purchase items for which we would receive a small commission from the product seller. Whatever we implement, it will not cost the users of this site any money. We never plan to receive or distribute funds from the users of our site.
Are there limits to giving and receiving on Venmo?
Yes. There is no limit for receiving person-to-person funds, but there is a limit to how much you can give. Venmo limits person-to-person giving to $4,999 per week.
